Kenyan sunrise with symbolic Elephants

Continuing the Kenya story, here is an image that took me out of my “comfort zone”.

I had left camp early one morning in search of the six Cheetah cubs and had no intentions of stopping before I found the cubs.

Initially the colour of the sky started to catch my eye as the sun got closer to the horizon. The colours made me ask myself should I stop or carry on my mission. A little further along the road the trees and shrubs parted to show the rising sun, which was making my decision even harder. When I saw the Elephants in the distance then the decision was made. I had to stop and give it a go.

I am glad that I stopped as this image is very different to those I typically take when in Africa.

British Musical Fireworks Championships – Southport

Friday October 5th saw the skies of Southport light up with many fireworks. Out came the tripod and a wide angle lens. What I didn’t expect was so many people, especially in front of the lens. Here is one of the images from the night.


A quiet week in September.

Not a lot of bird activity to report over the last week, so I have posted an image of a Greylag taken at WWT Slimbridge earlier in the month. There have, however, been some spectacular sunsets which were worth the effort to brush the dust off the tripod…..
