Here is what I believe to be an Atlantic Ghost Crab. I am no expert on marine life so please contact me if you think I have identified this crab incorrectly.
It was taken in Haiti last month as part of a family holiday in the Western Caribbean Islands. I didn’t take my normal “long” lenses on holiday as luggage space was a premium, so this was taken using a 300mm lens with a 1.4x converter attached. That lens combination gave me adequate optical reach and also allowed me to take some clothes for the holiday outings!
The crab had been keeping out of the sea water, but at this moment, the surf caught up with him whilst he was pre occupied looking for food.
